A day on the coast

Was out before first light to try to get picture's of Short Eared Owl's. Even though I did see a pair just after the sun came up, they stayed just too far away to get any good shot's. But it wasn't a complete waste of time because I did get reasonable  shot's of a Kestrel, a Barn Owl and a Heron.

Then this afternoon I went to Minsmere just to see what was around. Plenty to look at, as is usual there. Things of note were several Marsh Harrier's, a pair of Stonechat's, eight Bewick's Swan's,a Little Egret, Red and Muntjac deer and also a Fox. Took some pleasing shots of a Bewick's Swan backlit by the evening sun.

But the highlight of the day was something I could not get a picture of because there wasn't enough light.Though the objective was not really trying to get a picture, but just to get a sighting. Went to a likely place just before dusk and waited. There was nobody else around and all was quiet. Perfect! And just as it was nearly too dark to see something disturbed some waterfowl on the edge of the reed's. I started to pay careful attention to that spot through the binocular's. And there it was. An Otter! Not actually that rare a sight these day's, if you know where, when and what to look for. So, no picture's this time, but a great end to the day.
